Friar Research at Villanova University
Alessandra Vicente , SAHS Class of 2017, is a sophomore Biochemistry and Spanish double major at Villanova University, who was chosen to do undergraduate research over the summer in a biochemistry lab. Her research was The Characterization of Trypanosoma brucei Haloacid Dehalogenase. Trypanosoma brucei is a parasite that infects humans with trypanosomiasis, also known as the African Sleeping Sickness, and Haloacid Dehalogenase is an essential enzyme found in T.brucei. Alessandra was asked to present her project on Friday at Villanova’s research symposium!
